The decision to enter therapy can be a daunting one. When you make contact, If it feels helpful to you, we can have a brief chat and I can answer any questions you may have. If you choose to make an appointment we can discuss a suitable time slot. This can be done either on the phone, by email or text message.
Sessions are 1 hour in duration and available in the daytime, evenings and weekends. For couples counselling, the sessions are 1 1/2 hours duration but I also offer 1 hour sessions if required. Counselling works best with once weekly appoinments initially but I am happy to work less frequently as counselling progresses. After our first session, you can decide if you wish to book further sessions and you are free to choose how long you would like us to work together.
It may be helpful to think why you would like counselling and what you hope to acheive. In our first session together I encourage you to ask me anything you would like to know about the process of counselling or of me as your counsellor, and I will outline confidentiality and its limitations.
Counselling can sometimes be a difficult process, while I am patient, gentle and work at your pace, I cannot promise it will always be easy. Sometimes the painful parts are where you will experiance the most growth and I encourage my clients to listen to themselves, stay curious, be brave and keep going. Counselling works best if you are open and say how you really feel. I will endeavour to make our relationship a safe space to do so. We can review progress as we go and I encourage honest feedback over what is helping you the most.
My session fees are set at a sensible rate to make counselling as accessible and affordable as possible so I no longer offer concessions. My fees are listed at the bottom of this page and are payable on the day of the session by cash or bank transfer. I can supply you with the details to do so if it is your prefered way to pay. I have a 24 hour cancelation policy. Any sessions cancelled within 24 hours will be charged at the full rate.
